Install and first setup
Install the plugin
Section titled “Install the plugin”-
Download the free plugin from the Pixel Tracking page on brainrune.com. In wp-admin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.
-
After activation you land on the plugin’s screen. You can always find it again in the admin menu under Brainrune Pixel Tracking.
-
If WooCommerce is not active, a notice says so. The ecommerce events stay off until it is.
Who can change what
Section titled “Who can change what”Anyone with the manage_woocommerce capability (shop managers included) can open every screen. Only an administrator can change settings. Everyone else sees the screens read-only, with a note that changing them needs an administrator.
The screen
Section titled “The screen”The plugin has seven tabs:
- Dashboard: the main Tracking switch, every platform in one list, a check of the setup and the latest log entries.
- Events: which road each event takes (browser, server or both) and the automatic events.
- WooCommerce: the shop events, the purchase rules, a custom thank-you page and attribution.
- Consent: where the plugin reads consent from, and which category each platform needs.
- Server: the server events queue, its delivery and retention settings, and the log.
- Advanced: general switches, WPML, AMP and the environment table.
- Add-ons: what Brainrune Pixel Tracking Pro and Cookie Consent add.
Each platform also has its own page, the platform card. Open it from the Dashboard with Open platform card.
First setup
Section titled “First setup”You can fill in the settings tab by tab, or click Setup guide at the top right. The guide walks through six steps: Basics, Browser, Server, WooCommerce, Compatibility and a final check before you save.
-
On the Dashboard, find the platform you want and turn on its switch. Click the arrow to open the row and paste the ID. For Google Ads also fill in the Purchase label. The row also has the Consent category for that platform.
-
Turn on Tracking at the top of the Dashboard. Nothing loads while it is off, whatever the platforms say.
-
Open the WooCommerce tab. Check Statuses that count as a purchase. Processing and Completed are ticked by default.
-
Optional: for Meta, open the platform card and turn on Conversions API, then paste the Access token. See Server events.
-
Click Save changes in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
-
On the Dashboard, click Run the check. Each row says what is fine and what to look at.
-
Place a test order and confirm the events in each platform’s own tools. See Troubleshooting.
Add a consent banner
Section titled “Add a consent banner”Tags wait for consent by default, and hold when no consent source answers. Install a consent banner so visitors can say yes. Cookie Consent is made for this plugin and needs no setup to work with it; Cookiebot, CookieYes, Borlabs, Complianz, ConsentMagic and plugins that use the WP Consent API work too. See Consent.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”When you delete the plugin, it always removes the saved tokens, keys and test codes, and the server events queue. Your other settings, the log and the plugin’s order data are kept, so a reinstall picks up where you left off.
To remove everything, add this line to wp-config.php before you delete the plugin:
define( 'BRL_TRK_REMOVE_DATA', true );
