FAQ

Does it need Rank Math, Yoast SEO or SEOPress?

Section titled “Does it need Rank Math, Yoast SEO or SEOPress?”

No. Names, slugs and descriptions can be edited without any SEO plugin. The SEO title, meta description and robots fields need one of the three, because that is where those values are stored. See SEO plugins.

Yes. The switch above the list picks Categories, Tags or Brands, and each gets the same editor, filters, side panel and CSV. Brands show when WooCommerce (9.6 and newer) or a brands plugin registers them. Both are in the free plugin.

Google cuts titles and descriptions by width, not by characters. A title of wide letters is cut sooner than one of narrow letters with the same length. The counters measure the text the way Google draws it: 580 px for the title, 920 px for the meta description.

In the fields of the active SEO plugin: term meta for Rank Math and SEOPress, and the wpseo_taxonomy_meta option for Yoast SEO. Nothing is stored in a format of its own, so your SEO plugin’s category screen shows the same values.

Yes, the same way it would in WooCommerce. The old URL returns a 404 until you add a 301 redirect to the new one. The editor flags the slug field as soon as it changes, and the notice after saving counts how many slugs changed. The plugin does not add the redirect for you.

No. It only updates existing terms of the open list, matched on term ID and then on slug. It never creates or deletes anything. See CSV export and import.

Yes. Since version 2.1.2 the import writes the name and slug columns as well. Renaming a slug through the import has the same effect as in the editor: the old URL needs a redirect.

Yoast SEO is active. Yoast has no per-category nofollow, so the box is hidden rather than pretending to save.

No supported SEO plugin is active. Activate Rank Math, Yoast SEO or SEOPress and reload the page.

If you use a page cache, the old page may still be cached. With LiteSpeed Cache the plugin purges the saved category on its own. With other caches, purge the category page, or wait for the cache to expire.

WooCommerce says the plugin is incompatible.

Section titled “WooCommerce says the plugin is incompatible.”

Update to 2.2.1. Older versions did not declare support for HPOS and the block checkout, so WooCommerce flagged them, even though the plugin never touches orders or the checkout. Pro needs 2.2.1 as well.

Users who can manage WooCommerce. By default those are administrators and shop managers.

No. No account, no tracking, no external requests. The bundled font is loaded from the plugin folder.

What does uninstalling the free plugin remove?

Section titled “What does uninstalling the free plugin remove?”

Nothing. The plugin keeps no settings of its own; categories and SEO values stay where they are.

Yes. Pro is an add-on that hooks into the free plugin, version 2.2.0 or newer. Keep both active.

It describes the Pro add-on, with a switch per module that stays off until the add-on is installed. When Pro is installed, the tab is replaced by the Pro tabs.

I bought Pro, but the Pro tabs only describe the features.

The licence is not active on this site. Open the Licence tab, paste your key and click Activate. If it is already active, click Check again. See Licence keys.

The primary category is stored by the SEO plugin, so the audit needs Rank Math, Yoast SEO or SEOPress to be active.

If Pro does not work on your site and we cannot fix it within 14 days of your purchase, you get the full amount back. See Refunds.
