Opt-in by default. Accept all, Necessary only and Customise on the first screen, and a small button that reopens the choices on every page.
Cookie Consent
Cookie Consent (formerly Consent Manager) asks visitors which cookies they accept and makes the rest of the site respect the answer. Nothing that needs consent runs before the visitor chooses, and refusing takes one click, the same as accepting.
In the plugin list it is called Brainrune Cookie Consent. In the admin menu it is Cookie Consent.
It runs without any outside service: no account, no external CDN, no data sent anywhere. The visitor’s choice is kept in one first-party cookie.
What the free plugin does

The default is printed before any Google tag loads, and the update follows the visitor’s choice. Basic or advanced mode.
Embeds that wait
YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps, Spotify, SoundCloud, Instagram, X and Facebook embeds wait for the External media category.
A setup check
The Dashboard says what is fine and what to change, with a link to the setting for each.
It also respects Global Privacy Control, bridges the WP Consent API for other plugins, holds WooCommerce order attribution until the visitor allows marketing, comes with banner texts in six languages, and adds a GDPR data request form.

Works with Pixel Tracking
Section titled “Works with Pixel Tracking”Installed next to Pixel Tracking, there is nothing to connect. Pixel Tracking reads the answer on its own: pixels wait for a yes, Google Consent Mode follows, and server events respect the same choice.
