Updates

Free plugins update from WordPress.org, like any other plugin. You see the update under Dashboard > Updates and on the Plugins screen.

Pro updates come from brainrune.com, but they show up in the same places as every other update: Dashboard > Updates and the Plugins screen. You choose when to install them. If you turned on auto-updates for the plugin, WordPress installs them on its own schedule.

A site receives Pro updates while its licence is active and the plugin’s Licence screen shows Updates: on.

The site asks brainrune.com about new versions and keeps the answer for up to six hours. If you know a version is out and you do not see it yet, check again later. If you are in a hurry, download the new build from your account and install it by hand, see below.

Each Pro update is signed by brainrune.com. Before WordPress installs it, the plugin checks that:

  • the package comes from brainrune.com, over https,
  • the signature matches,
  • the downloaded zip matches the checksum brainrune.com published.

If any check fails, the update stops with a plain message, for example “the update is not signed by brainrune.com, so it was not installed”. Nothing is changed on your site. Try again later, and write to support if it keeps failing.

Updates stop when the licence ends. Depending on the plan, the Pro features either keep running without updates, or switch off. See When the subscription ends.

Renew and click Re-check now on the Licence screen, and updates resume.

Your account’s Downloads screen lists the latest build of each Pro plugin. For some licences it also lists the build before it, marked Previous build, for a rollback.

To install a zip by hand, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, choose the zip and confirm that you want to replace the installed version.
